Description
Challenge Coins date to the Roman Empire where soldiers were recognized for their achievements with coins. In more modern US history, challenge coins were popular in WWI as a means of identification by unit and experience.Later, a tradition of “challenging” other members of a unit arose to show their membership as part of the unit. A member would issue a challenge where everyone was required to show their coins. Challenge coins also have some history as gifts between nations and service members as a morale boost or memento.
These challenge coins are offered by the IMPD Mounted Horse Patrol as an alloy blend of metal. All proceeds benefit the Unit.
