2020 Polo at Sunset Event

Polo at Sunset returns to Hickory Hall this August 14, 2020 starting at 6 pm

The IMPD Mounted Horse Patrol Association is hosting Polo at Sunset this August 14, 2020 at Hickory Hall Polo Club near Whitestown. Gates open at 5 pm and the first chukker starts at 6.

It’s the perfect event for a socially-distanced, safe, evening with family and close family friends. A $300 donation gets you in the gate and one vehicle on the west side of the field for tailgating.

Additional guests can enter with a $20 donation and stand, picnic, or setup lawn chairs to watch the match on the east side of the field.

Tailgate at one of the area’s few sporting events taking place in 2020

See and meet the horses patrolling Indy’s streets. Officers take part in the event each year to talk with event-goers.

  • Socially-distanced tailgating, with up to 10 people suggested per box.
  • 1 vehicle per reserved space on the sidelines.
  • Premiere tailgate boxes are available on the west side of the field with a $300 donation.
  • A $100 donation secures a general box on the east side.
  • Overflow parking for additional guests to join you is available for $20 per vehicle.
  • Carpooling is encouraged.

A benefit for the IMPD Mounted Patrol

Polo at Sunset is hosted by the IMPD Mounted Horse Patrol Association, a nonprofit caretaker group for the IMPD Mounted Patrol.

The HPA uses funds raised at Polo at Sunset and throughout the year to:

  • Purchase qualified police horses, many starting at $10,000 each.
  • Cover the cost of training and travel expenses for officers and horses.
  • Provide medical and veterinary care as-needed to the horses
  • Supplies like saddles, tack, grooming and hygiene care, and more.
  • Contribute to the construction of a new barn and training facility on the near west-side of Indianapolis.

Watch exciting polo matches

Multiple teams will compete at this year’s Polo at Sunset. Each round, called a Chukker, moves fast as teams compete for their sponsor and the Polo at Sunset Cup.

Corporate sponsors receive 1 box for guests. Team sponsors receive 2 and the Title sponsor 3.
